Coach Eddie began training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2009 at the age of 31, initially just to lose weight. He had been the heaviest he have ever been weighing in at 270 lbs. Within two years of training and diet he was able to loose over 100 lbs and kept training earned his purple belt through a Rickson Gracie Black Belt in 2012. In 2013, Coach Eddie’s niece began training with Professor Marcelo Ribeiro. After watching a few classes and seeing how he motivated his students he decided to give a few classes a try at Professor Marcelo’s gym. ” Within the first week Professor Marcelo and his family treated me as they knew me all my life and the students who are now great friends and training partners provided a great atmosphere. They never let me feel like an outsider even though I came from a different gym. Along side the family atmosphere Professor Marcelo is highly respected as one of the best Jiu Jitsu Instructors and will always make an effort to help you improve your training. Brazilian Jiu jitsu has helped me find confidence within myself and motivated me to live a healthier lifestyle. ” Coach Eddie is today one of our kids class coaches and he is here with his heart, soul and beautiful smile teaching our little ones. “Seeing them make new friends and becoming more confident. I really love hearing stories from parents on how their kids are becoming more confident and respectful. ” Outside of jiu jitsu, Coach Eddie is a Data Analyst and Visualization Engineer.
